History
The neighborhood takes its name from a railroad trestle built in 1883 and demolished in 1906 once the line was rerouted. Trestle Glen itself was largely developed in the 1920s by Frank C. Havens and Walter Leimert, with an original site plan from the Olmsted Brothers shaping its curving streets. The Lakeshore Homes Association, founded in 1917, is the second-oldest homeowners association west of the Mississippi and has helped preserve the neighborhood's character for over a century.
Architecture
Homes here span Craftsman, Prairie, Tudor Revival, Spanish, and Neo-Mediterranean styles built through the 1920s, '30s, and '40s, several by renowned architects Julia Morgan and Bernard Maybeck. The result is a neighborhood where the architectural story is as much a draw as the location itself.
